TITS in the gallery! Finally!
22nd February, 2022 | News & updates
Dear visitor,
I apologize for such a cheeky title but I wanted to draw your attention. And then, I did not lie. Because yes, it is true, tits (Paridae) are finally uploaded to the gallery! It is a big milestone, actually, as it was quite a shame that such ubiquitous animals as tits, were not uploaded to the gallery any sooner. And don't take me wrong, I did photogrpahed tits the whole time. Actually, first photo of a tit I made is from late 2016, but as are tits notoriously unpopular among bird ringers, they are quite pain also to photograph in hand and then sort the good photos from the bad ones later on computer. Many of them, especially from the early years, had to be ommited because of their low quality (mostly not being in focus).
But here they are, after such delay, these “basic birds” (in terms of how often an average bird ringer or birder encounters them in the field) are finally uploaded. About two years ago, I adopted a habbit of processing all the photos right when I get back from the field. Therefore, such big delays should no longer be a problem in the future. Of course, there are still four more families of birds waiting to be uploaded, but I hope I can manage to upload them in late March the latest, because all the photos are finally processed right now and only has to be checked one more time to get rid of the low quality ones as well as correct possible bad identification of sex or age.
But right now, enjoy the 155 individuals of the 6 more or less common species of tits regularly encountered in much of Europe.
And stay tuned for the next forthcoming updates. Thanks for visiting!
